Halocarbon Oil and Grease Cross-References to Other PCTFE-based Lubricants

For over 65 years, Halocarbon has been a leading producer of fluorinated oils, greases, and waxes designed to withstand the chemically harsh environments of a broad range of industries. To ensure the safety of its consumers while still providing reliability, Halocarbon has designed its fluorinated lubricants to be chemically inert, nonflammable, with high thermal stability, good lubricity, high dielectric strength and a variety of viscosities, densities, and NLGI grades.

Halocarbon utilizes its position as a vertically integrated manufacturer and the sole US-based PCTFE oil manufacturer to provide oils of quality and customization. Halocarbon offers consumers in the Americas a way to do business directly with a PCTFE manufacturer, providing you with significant cost savings versus the competition.

Halocarbon is dedicated to providing its customers with the highest-quality production of fluorinated lubricants on the market. In addition to no flash or fire points, Halocarbon offers excellent compatibility with commonly used chemicals and many less popular ones as well. With industries using strong oxidizing agents more than ever, Halocarbon utilizes a multitude of test procedures to determine the safety of its oils, greases, and waxes that come into contact with these agents. Halocarbon performs procedures to ensure a lack of reactivity with gaseous oxygen under pressure include the Oxygen Inertness Test, Shock Sensitivity Test, and an evaluation by the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM).

To equip consumers with the greatest assurance of safety and durability when using its fluorinated lubricants, Halocarbon provides the data needed to choose the appropriate oil for a particular application in its product guide. Not only that, but Halocarbon also provides its consumers with the information needed to be able to make a clean switch from other fluorinated lubricants to Halocarbon’s safer, more consistent, more reliable oils, greases, and waxes. The data provided here is only intended to be a general guide. The best method of switching lubricants is to call Halocarbon and speak with one of their experts to confirm the best possible product for your application.

Halocarbon Oils:

The chemically inert nature of Halocarbon 4.2 and Halocarbon 6.3  can be used during exposure to oxygen, chlorine, and most reactive gas services. Halocarbon 4.2 and Halocarbon 6.3 are two of Halocarbon’s lower viscosity oils manufactured within industry standard viscosity range of 10% range making them the ideal selection for mechanical seal fluid and inert instrument fill fluid. Halocarbon manufactures its safe, nonflammable, and chemically inert oils in-house at Halocarbon Products, unlike its competitors.

Halocarbon 27 provides excellent lubricity, high thermal stability, and low compressibility. Another of its features is its chemically inert nature making it nonreactive to oxygen, chlorine, and most reactive gas services. Halocarbon 27 is the ideal fluorinated oil for general purpose inert lubrication for applications such as bearings, compressors, gearboxes, and pumps as it is a medium viscosity inert oil manufactured within the industry standard viscosity range of 10% range. Halocarbon 27 is produced directly by Halocarbon.

As a medium viscosity inert oil with good lubricity and high thermal stability,  Halocarbon 95 works perfectly as a general purpose inert lubricant for bearings, compressors, gearboxes, and pumps. Halocarbon manufactures Halocarbon 95 with safety in mind–this nonflammable, chemically inert fluorinated oil functions well in high temperatures and remains nonreactive with oxygen, chlorine and most reactive gases.

Halocarbon 400 is best suited for general purpose inert lubrication in applications such as bearings, compressors, gearboxes, and pumps as it has excellent lubricity, is a medium viscosity inert oil manufactured within the industry standard viscosity range of 10% and has low compressibility. Designed and manufactured by Halocarbon, it does not rely on outsourced production to provide its consumers with this safe, nonflammable fluorinated oil.

With a high viscosity, chemically inert nature, and lack of a flash point, Halocarbon 700 serves a broad range of applications requiring general purpose lubrication. Safety of the consumer is of the utmost importance to Halocarbon, therefore Halocarbon 700 is nonreactive with oxygen, chlorine, and most reactive gases and is nonflammable with absolutely no flashpoint.

Halocarbon 1000N outranks its competitors with the highest viscosity of any inert oil manufactured by Halocarbon and manufactured within the industry standard viscosity range of 10% range. This feature, along with the nonflammable and chemically inert nature of Halocarbon 1000N, makes this fluorinated oil a suitable candidate for any general-purpose application in need of inert lubrication. Designed with safety in mind, Halocarbon 1000N is manufactured in-house to be resilient to harsh chemicals and reactive gases.

Halocarbon Greases:

As a PCTFE oil thickened with silica, Halocarbon 25-5S (MIL-G-47219) is a thick-bodied grease with a medium viscosity. Halocarbon 25-5S outperforms the competitors with NLGI grade range of 2 to 3, good lubricity, high thermal stability, and low compressibility. Halocarbon 25-5S (MIL-G-47219) is designed by Halocarbon to withstand a broad range of temperatures in a multitude of applications.

Halocarbon 28 and Halocarbon 28LT are medium-bodied greases formed with a moderate viscosity PCTFE oil thickened with silica. Halocarbon designed Halocarbon 28 for applications taking place in common ambient conditions and Halocarbon 28LT for applications including valve and seal lubrication at lower than ambient temperatures. Halocarbon 28 and Halocarbon 28LT have an NLGI grade of 2, are chemically inert, nonflammable, and compatible with both oxygen and chlorine.
